As I gradually came to after getting sober, I realized that I had fixed myself up with the ideal job for a active alcoholic. My work required me to entertain a lot, and I'd acquired a willing circle of clients and colleagues who all agreed that without a few drinks to oil the wheels of industry, we would never get any business done.
