First Sober Kiss

The most memorable "first" I had in recovery occurred on my first sober New Year's Eve. That night at my local Alano Club, I met a young man, someone I knew from meetings, and at the stroke of midnight I experienced my first sober kiss with him. It was wonderful to realize that I didn't have to do anything else that night but share a New Year's kiss. As my sobriety grew, I learned to love this man, and today we are married and both of us are very active in recovery in the same little community where we exchanged that memorable kiss.
