What Worked for Me
Not for Beginners Only
WHEN I WAS FIRST SOBER, I did the following things and they helped me: Checked off my first ninety meetings in ninety days on a calendar. Drank warm milk and honey for insomnia. Taped the Serenity Prayer to the bathroom mirror. Repeated that prayer to myself all day to keep the voices from starting their usual negative narrations. Wore my watch on the opposite wrist to remind myself that I was learning a new way of living. Always had extra coins for a phone call.
