Drifting Away From AA

AA in Des Moines just wasn't the same as AA in Chicago

When my wife and I moved to a new city eight years ago, I thought my program and my sobriety were in pretty good shape. I hadn't been following a perfect path, but then I'd been assured by the Big Book and others in the Fellowship that perfection wasn't going to be possible. I'd have to settle for progress. What follows is what can happen when even progress isn't safeguarded. Complacency doesn't happen overnight. Generally, it starts small and grows insidiously.
