My Broken Planner

He changed his actions to get different results

For many years, I was in and out of the doors of AA--ten, to be exact. I couldn't seem to keep the compulsion to drink from coming back. Every time I sobered up, I was sure that I would never take another drink again as long as I lived. After two or three months, I was off and running again. I could not, for the very life of me, figure out why I could not hold on to the state of mind necessary to stay sober. Old-timers told me, "You want to be drunk more than you want to be sober!" It made me mad to hear this, because I was absolutely sure I was ready to stay sober every time I came back.
