Cooperation Not Affilication: We Are Responsible
The principle of anonymity has been associated with our spirit of cooperation and nonaffiliation from AA's early years. In 1945, Bill wrote in the AA Grapevine about the time when Yale University hired an AA member to do some professional work and Bill had agreed that the individual could drop anonymity. Before long, people were confusing AA with Yale's educational program.
