One of my character defects is that when I get angry, I curse and scream, loudly. Recently, I started to notice that when I used the F- or S-word, my little border collie Nike's ears would turn down and she seemed distressed. I shared this with my sponsor who said cursing and swearing were not the attributes of a grateful recovering alcoholic. I tried applying my will power to this defect, without much success. After a few more unpleasant episodes, I decided to try prayer.
