Just Ask

By the time I stopped drinking, my house, my life, my world were a mess. In the years before, in spite of my alcoholism, I had managed to acquire quite a few things: I had owned my own business, and my wife and two beautiful children lived in a house that I would often say was "the best house anybody in either of our families had ever lived in." But as my drinking progressed, these worldly possessions began to fall away. By the end of my drinking, I was alone in that house, left only with the mess I had created.
