What's at Stake?

Tradition Five came into play in our area when a few groups refused to visit a gay group as scheduled on our intergroup calendar. Members of a group in the area laughed when they were invited to visit the gay group. As a result, our primary purpose of staying sober was set aside to accommodate fear of people who were different. Fortunately, one person in the group did not give in to the popular opinion and volunteered to take the meeting. If he hadn't, our Fifth Tradition would have been set aside and Alcoholics Anonymous would have been the loser.
