The Right Combination

She made a deal with her Higher Power, and her sobriety finally clicked.

I grew up in an alcoholic family. Life was unpredictable and, at times, volatile. I learned at a very young age that if I acted a certain way, I wouldn't get into trouble. It was a difficult combination to figure out. Sometimes my father would be jovial, and I could let down my guard. But most of the time, I had to figure out how to be invisible.
