The Middle Ground

It's a spiritual place, where status and judgment don't exist, where we are all just imperfect human beings

My name is Kevin, and I'm an alcoholic. Oh, I'm other things as well. I'm a husband and a father. I'm a Presbyterian, a registered member of a certain political party, and an alumnus of a Big Ten university. I'm a magazine editor and a suburbanite. I'm a driver of a van, not an SUV. I'm a cat person and a Civil War buff. I could go on and on. When I'm addressing fellow alcoholics, though, either in person or in writing, I'm first and foremost an alcoholic.
