I had been in Alcoholics Anonymous about one-and-a-half years when I had my first encounter with the deadliness of our disease. I was a farm migrant worker when I was sent to AA by the court for my DWIs. AA met in a big Alano clubhouse that was more like a mansion. I met many people there, but was really impressed by one man in particular.
