Eternal anonymity

Thank you for a great issue on anonymity last December (2002). I was especially glad to discover that "AA members generally think it unwise to break the anonymity of a member even after his death." In the six and a half years that I have been attending meetings, I have heard numerous references that break the anonymity of our deceased members. For example, a few days ago I heard a man with over twenty years of sobriety say, "John Doe was my first sponsor. I can use his last name because he's dead now." Huh? Where in Conference-approved literature does it say that?
