Life Is Good, Twisted

There is a saying: "If you really want to work on your personality defects, get into a relationship." For me this is very true. I am going very slow. What has helped me is that the man I have been dating for five years and I do not live together. He works an NA program, so we have emotional space at meetings. Staying active in the fellowships has enhanced what we give to each other. Also, the feeling of thirteenth-stepping is not there, as we met in a totally out-of-program experience. We totally dysfunctional people have radar, don't we? And something my sponsor told me at the get-go was that I take only my own inventory. I am not his sponsor, he is not mine, and if I just want sex, be honest with him about my intent to use him.
