A closed book

Reading Philip N.'s letter in the October 2002 issue about "folks in AA who believe if a book is not Conference-approved it should be burned," I was reminded of an incident that occurred several months ago. One part of a book I was reading, Og Mandino's The Greatest Salesman in the World, which is not Conference-approved, seemed pertinent to the discussion at a meeting. Since I wanted to use Mr. Mandino's precise words, I pulled out the book and began to quote from it. An attendee objected that it was not Conference-approved and, therefore, it should not be shared with the group.
