Despite the Pain

He never forgot that he was an alcoholic, even when the demons of his mind took hold

This story is about my brother-in-law. Joe, a man who was sober for more than twenty-one years, although he was only forty-five years of age. I met him for the first time somewhere around his ninth or tenth year of sobriety.
