Sober Safari
Somewhere in Kenya: The Masai warrior in his red sash invited us into his home, a manyatta made of twigs and dried cow dung. We held bands to enter until our eyes got used to the dimness, and sat on hand-carved wooden stools while our host, Jospet, set aside his spear and told us about his way of life. He unscrewed the lid off a five-gallon jerry-can and began pouring mugs of the local brew made of fermented honey and herbs. Two cups would get you drunk, the warrior declared.
