Stark-raving Sober Into Cyberspace

In 1997, I had not picked up a drink in eight years, but I had not been to meetings in several years either. I was in a bad marriage and stark-raving sober! I knew something had to change before I picked up that first drink, but I was scared to death to go back to face-to-face meetings. I'd hung around AA for the first few years, attending meetings if I had time, always arriving just as the meeting was starting, and being the first one out the door and into my car when the meeting was over. Then I discovered the wonderful world of the Internet and stumbled upon AA online one sleepless night. Eventually I ended up in a women's e-mail group, and that's where my recovery and new life finally began.
