My First Twelfth-step Call

One day I got a phone call from a friend in the program who said he needed me to go on a Twelfth-Step call. Being new in the program and never having gone on one, I agreed to go. He and some other AA friends picked me up, and as we drove to our destination, I recognized the area. It looked familiar because it was the street where my sponsor lived. Then, to my amazement, we pulled into his driveway. I was pretty scared, not even having suspected it was my sponsor we were calling on.
