Sobriety Test

The first time tragedy struck, she got wasted. The second time, she admitted defeat and found strength.

In the alcoholic ward of our community hospital, a confident young woman told her story. "Drinking was a symptom of what was already wrong with me," she said. "Self-centered behavior and a bad attitude were my real problems." She explained how reckless behavior, stemming from fear of not getting what she wanted, or being able to hold on to what she had, harmed her dealings with people and drove her to drink.
