Moms, too

I came to AA at the age of seventeen. I got involved in service by making coffee and chairing meetings, I got a sponsor, I met a man, and we got married. We had a child together. My sponsor and I became best friends. She helped me stay sober for two years. Then there was a terrible tragedy: My sponsor's thirteen-year-old son killed her eight-year-old daughter. Even though they were not my children, I loved them both very much and I relapsed shortly afterwards. I managed to stay sober for two months after that, but another relapse followed.
