As I approached my eleventh year of sobriety this year, I made the decision to help others in my community by volunteering in a soup kitchen to feed the homeless. Today was my first day, and it was a humbling experience. I have been given the gift of sobriety, and a second chance at life. Without telling a single soul, while looking at the people standing on that food line, I knew that I was a part of them, just as much as they were a part of me.
