The End of the Road

Carrying the message into the back country of Alaska

My husband and I live in South Florida part of the year, where the local AA problem is overpopulation. There is work being done to apply for an additional service area, with the goal of better carrying the message. This summer, however, we traveled to Alaska. By plane it is an all-day trip of some 6,000 miles. Members of our home group, "Friends of the Pelican," took us to the airport. In Alaska, we were met by an AA member and driven for another four-plus hours, to a small town that is known as the halibut fishing capital of the world, the Homer Anchor Point area. This place is well known because it is the most westerly point on the North American highway system, commonly called "the end of the road."
