A Mother's Love

A newcomer discovers the power of a few AA tools

I walked in the door of AA after a twenty-six day inpatient rehab. I was feeling scared and insecure. I was honest and told the group I felt that a drink would give me courage, and I didn't want to drink, so I did have a desire to stay sober. They told me they could relate to my feelings, to keep coming back, and not to drink between meetings. I found I had a lot of courage without alcohol. I didn't just stand there with my little toe in the water; I took courage and dove into the program.
