Enjoy the ride

We had numerous interactive workshops at the California Northern Coastal Area Summer Assembly. One I attended was called "Is the Grapevine Relevant?" The sharing went the gamut from "The Grapevine saved my life" to a man who'd answered a call for articles once, was rejected, and, as a result, hadn't read the magazine in eight years. One of the common themes was how the Grapevine seems to have stepped over the line lately with its controversial covers and special sections. The 9/11 cover was mentioned, as was "Should We Go Easy on the God Stuff?" The issue that evoked the most discussion was the "Now About Sex" issue. Some felt it was about time AA members talked about sex in sobriety, while others thought we were just a hop, skip, and a jump away from 3-D covers or scratch-n-sniff ones in an effort to get more subscribers.
