Meetings "open to the public" are our best example that AA is not a secret society, so friends, family, and the average citizen may see for themselves what AA is all about. Even news reporters, law officers, social workers, and the curious may attend. Newcomers should be able to visit and observe without apprehension of being identified as alcoholics.
