Attraction Rather than Promotion

This AA member wondered: Why shouldn't AA have its own postage stamp?

Several years ago, around 1977, I wrote the Grapevine, trying to drum up support for a United States and Canadian postal stamp celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Alcoholics Anonymous. I had, through other connections, secured support and had received letters of recommendation for the stamp from members of congress, senators, and professional alcoholism counseling organizations. Needless to say, I was very disappointed to get the Grapevine's response, referring to Tradition Eleven and declining to publish any article that would encourage AA members to write letters of support.
