Romey P.'s story "Never Too Old to Dream" in the August 2004 issue truly got my attention and gave me hope. Lately, God has been giving me signs that there is more for me in sobriety than I had previously anticipated, and Romey's story was one of those signs. I believe I was meant to read it when I did. In the past few years, I had come to believe that my low-paying, unfulfilling job was the best I could hope for. I believed I had blown all my chances and squandered all my opportunities through drinking and this was my punishment. I tried to accept my lot in life but always felt I had wasted my God-given talents. I couldn't rid myself of the sadness and hollow feeling that persisted just underneath the surface.
