AA Grapevine Readers Respond to "Singleness of Purpose--what Are AAs Saying Today?" Featured in the May 2004 Issue

David F.'s article on singleness of purpose in the May issue hit me right between the eyes. In my first year of sobriety, I left AA and began attending another fellowship because of what I perceived to be the hostility of AAs to hearing about past drug use. At one meeting, a modified version of the blue card was read, stating the desire of the group to limit its membership to those whose "primary addiction" was to alcohol.
