Everything I Need to Know About Sobriety I Learned in My Home Group

I remember being in rehab for the second time and attending in-house meetings. One Saturday, three gentlemen came and carried a message of hope to this still sick and suffering alcoholic. They talked about having a home group and they seemed reasonably happy. After I left the rehab, I started making meetings on a daily basis. One Sunday night, I went to what is now my home group and saw those same three men. What a surprise. I did not know it then, but this was our Fifth Tradition in action: "Each group has but one primary purpose--to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers." The seed had been planted.
