Birthday in the Sisterhood

It's the last Wednesday night of the month and the Sierra Step Sisters break out the birthday box! Up go the birthday balloons, over goes the birthday tablecloth, and out come the ribbons, hats, horns, and glitter. Many gifts appear. The cake person has brought a sumptuous, decorated cake, and the anniversary kids sit at their own gala table. We give chips, sing over the lighted cake, and then each birthday person shares her experience, strength, and hope, and how using the Steps and AA tools have changed her life. If there's any time left, we have an open discussion--usually words of how these people have touched us. We close the meeting and hop up for an always fabulous potluck dinner with lots of hugs. If it's your birthday month, you go home knowing in your heart the love and support of our Sierra Step Sisters.
