Finally ready

On November 8,1973, at 6:00 P.M., I was sitting on my bed at a hotel in Miami Beach. I'd been in Alcoholics Anonymous a year, but I was constantly slipping and being dishonest to my home group. I would drink as a "reward" after my success at a big, out of town trade show and tell my home group that I hadn't. I was an AA phony! I hated myself because I was keeping a dirty little secret. I knew how to use all the buzzwords of AA--I was talking the talk instead of walking the walk.
