On January 15, 1955, I had a bad problem with alcohol and attended my first AA meeting at the Aloha Group. It was the only open meeting on Oahu and it was located at the end of a dead end street on an unpaved road full of potholes. I was greeted at the door by "whispering Bill," who had an extended handshake and a big smile. I have followed his example since that day.
