Exhaling Freely

After terrified mornings, an AA finds the courage to ask for help

I remember the first time I got drunk; it was as if I could exhale for the first time in my life. All my fears and insecurities disappeared for a few hours. I was the prettiest, funniest, and smartest person at the party. I was also the best dancer. Unfortunately, this blissful state was always short-lived. And as my drinking progressed, I would wake up hungover, terrified of what I had done the night before and who I had done it to.
