I was amazed when I opened my March 2005 issue of the Grapevine. I identified immediately with the story "Double Trouble," because it mentioned staying sober through extreme transformation. I too am a transitioning male to female transsexual who found herself only after becoming sober in the rooms of AA. Now, sixteen years sober, I am living happily as the woman I always denied existed. My home group and other AA meetings' love and acceptance for a recovering human being has replaced the rejection and abuse from my family of birth. I have even been invited to speak at a women's meeting. Even at seventy, it is never too late to be true to yourself. I applaud the editors for publishing that story.
