I recently lost my son. He was a troubled man who had demons that he could not and would not deal with. He was one of those unfortunates that the Big Book talks about. There is nothing more horrible to contemplate than burying your youngest child; and he will always be my youngest child, even though he was in his thirties. It is even worse when you hear from the police that he ended his own life. I could not have gotten through the days of that shock, the funeral, and the aftermath without the support of my recovery family. When I found recovery and started my program over fifteen years ago, I was told that I was never alone, nor did I have to do this alone. That was evident this past month when I faced what I had to face.
