Uniformed Recovery

An AA journey shared with the men and women of the armed forces

I found AA and sobriety in 1957, while on active duty in the United States Air Force at Kessler AFB, Mississippi. My sponsor was first sergeant of one of the Air Base Groups. The AA group we attended was in Gulfport, the only AA group between Mobile, Alabama, and New Orleans. There were many military people in the group, ranging from airman to brigadier general. I know that my sponsor, Woody, was instrumental in getting groups started in New Foundland, Clark Field in the Philippines, Warner Robins AFB, Georgia, and Forbes AFB in Topeka, Kansas.
