A skateboarder takes on a monster ramp with the help of the Steps
It's a perfect summer Saturday afternoon in midtown Sacramento. The yearning to commune with my skateboard and to get back to what used to be everything to me is pulling me to the converted warehouse that is the closest skate sanctuary from my room at the halfway house on 23rd to the end of B Street on the other side of the railroad tracks down by the American River. Absentmindedly, I readjust the chinstrap on my helmet as I skate along, thinking about the tricks I'm going to try.
