A former member of the Scottish Regiment finally lays down his arms

I was born and raised in a town called Coatbridge on the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland. It was a working-class town where drinking was part of the culture. My parents died when I was young, and money was short. Despite being clever and good at soccer, I always wanted to be someone else. I saw alcohol use when I was a kid, and despite the ugly side of it, it seemed fun and I thought that was the answer.
