A Vietnam vet discovers how vital honesty is

On May 6, 2004, I celebrated twenty-five years of sobriety. I still remember looking at the drink in front of me, hating it, saying no, drinking it, hating myself, and repeating this over and over. I knew I was an alcoholic. I knew my life was unmanageable because of my drinking. I also believed that with my problems there was no way I could live without a drink.
