The Tapestry Of AA And Sober Living
Recovery and fellowship woven together
The first thing I found in Alcoholics Anonymous was fellowship. Fellowship drew me in. The place was handholding, chanting, hour-and-a-half meetings, Orange County in Southern California. The year was 1986. "Creeping ritualism" was moving right along. Those who hated churches were adding on more and more baggage from the churches they claimed they hated. I didn't know what I was getting into, but folks just smiled and told me to keep coming back.
