I have been critical of doctors because they never diagnosed my disease or helped me. I forget, of course, that I lied to them about my drinking. An alcoholic in denial can spin a whopper of a lie! But when I became honest with myself, my health care providers could help me. Only when I was sober could I see how much doctors and nurses cared and how much they could help an alcoholic.
