Finding Walter

I got drunk for the first time at the age of eleven. I never drank normally, there was no "invisible line" I crossed--an alcoholic was born. I had found the solution to being Walter: alcohol. It brought the sense of ease, comfort, and belonging that my soul craved. Suddenly, it was all right to be me, and I could do vast and wondrous things, or at least I thought I could.
