A Southern Blessing

In despair, she prayed that God would take her--and he did

Twenty-eight years of drinking, five-treatment and detox centers, several jail cells, three husbands, six children, and the death of my eighteen-year-old daughter brought this girl to her knees. Standing 5'5" and weighing ninety pounds, my last bit of sanity, was gone. After writing a suicide note, I left my husband and our children, on foot. We had everything and lost it all. More importantly, I had lost me. I was only existing. I prayed for God to take me; I could no longer live with alcohol or without it. My life was over.
