Utah Area 69 Fall Assembly --"Juicin' up with the 'Vine" Logan, Utah

Taking "Juicin' up with the 'Vine" as its motto, Area 69 made the Grapevine and La Vina the focal point of its fall assembly. La Vina editor Hernan M. got the ball rolling when he tossed a purple beach ball into the crowd and invited participants to share their experience with the magazines at a Friday evening GrapeBall. Mike P., chairman of the Grapevine Board, gave a colorful audiovisual presentation on the history of the magazines and wound up the night with an AA meeting. Saturday morning was devoted to area business, which included the creation of a new Spanish linguistic district of all Spanish-speaking groups in the state. Then after lunch, enthusiastic AAs presented several Grapevine plays, including the Toronto favorite, Ebby, and Ray M., Grapevine Board trustee, gave a powerpoint presentation on all that aagrapevine.org has to offer, including the Digital Archive and the audioGrapevine. Two published Grapevine and La Vina authors from Utah shared about writing for the magazines at an artists and writers' workshop and Mike P. told his story at the Saturday night meeting. Ray M. helped bring the weekend to a close by speaking at the final session on Sunday. "It was a loving reminder of the vitality of our Fellowship and of our magazines," Hernan reported. In addition, it boosted attendance 30%, said Jodi E., the Panel 53 delegate who spearheaded the event.
