After five years of sobriety, I walked away from AA in 2000. I had become complacent, resentful, and full of self-pity. I began to resent the fact that I could not take another drink for the rest of my life. I started going to the bar for take-out food, and before I could say, "I am an alcoholic," I took a drink and walked away from the program.
