My name is David, and I am an alcoholic. I was the last one to know. I can't count how many times I've heard or read someone else say that same thing: "I was the last one to know." But, honestly, I didn't believe that I was an alcoholic, even when I landed in a rehabilitation center. I figured anybody who couldn't drink, for whatever reason, was the poorest sap on the planet. How sad it must be, I thought, to never get drunk. But I soon learned that I didn't drink like other people.
