Reflections on a life

I gaze across Lake Michigan from my twelfth-floor hospital room here in Milwaukee, looking out at the cold, dark, wintry morning. I've just been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Fear, anger, and then acceptance. It's another page in sobriety, and many years since the wild, crazy days of my youth.
