Clear-cut messages

In the July 2006 issue, nonalcoholic trustee Jim Estelle lists several reasons why AA is not growing, such as fewer opportunities to work with wet drunks and insufficient efforts in carrying the message to a growing prison population. To these I would add the observation that AA lends itself to being perceived as a cult. Chanting while holding hands and closing meetings with the Lord's Prayer are probably the main culprits.
