My first sober christmas, I received a handful of cards from AA people. Some I didn't even know. I had not received a Christmas card for years; on skid row, sending cards was unheard of. I bought a box of Christmas cards and reciprocated. Then a miracle occurred. My hands weren't jerking. I was reading and comprehending the verses and my eyes were not bloodshot, as in the past. I could even sign them legibly, and I knew who I was sending them to and what those AAs meant to me. I could never have done this before. I will never forget these spiritual experiences.
